• Friends,

Last night the United States Constitution and the voices of the majority were ignored in a fashion unlike anything in my lifetime. The House of Representatives thwarted the will of the people. Not only does the bill raise taxes and lower freedoms, the process by which the bill was passed should outrage every one of us, regardless of ideology.

The American people will not stand for this. The “real” vote was not last night. It will be in the coming election cycles. Until then, let us support those states that are challenging the constitutionality of this bill. Let us support those who argue that the federal government does not have the power to force its citizens to purchase anything. Let us support those who argue today, as they have been arguing for years, that this country cannot afford another entitlement program.

Many of us are searching for tangible, real, and concrete ways to express our frustration and disappointment with Congress. Continue to call and write your elected officials. Continue to question and examine the positions of the candidates who seek your support. And support South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint in his efforts to introduce legislation to repeal this cynical act of legislative arrogance.

There is a wind sweeping this country right now; a wind that carries with it the principles of personal responsibility, accountability to others, self-determinism and a revival of free enterprise. Remember how you feel today. A better day is coming and soon.
