• A quick note from our campaign manager George Ramsey.

If you wonder what the “new” Bob Inglis is willing to do or say to stay in Washington, the answer is – just about anything! With shrinking poll numbers and last place finishes in straw polls, Inglis’s list of distortions and desperate acts continues to grow.

Inglis’s most recent act of distortion and desperation was to flatly misstate Solicitor Trey Gowdy’s position on the Union County Lake Project. Gowdy has never called for an earmark to support the Union Lake Project. Never. Instead Gowdy’s position is exactly the same position as Senator Jim DeMint’s: To lend a hand of leadership, to bring stakeholders to the table to discuss feasibility, to show interest and concern for the water needs and economic development of Union County, and to offer that support consistent with his legislative principles. That is the DeMint approach and that is the Gowdy approach.

The truth is Inglis does support earmarks and has supported them since his “2.0 version” showed up back in Congress. The “old” Bob Inglis opposed earmarks, the “new” Bob Inglis seeks them and apparently the “new” Bob Inglis believes in distorting other people’s positions as well.

Unfortunately this distortion continues an Inglis trend that began the day Gowdy announced he was running for Congress.

On June 1, 2009, the “new “ Inglis called for Solicitor Gowdy to resign his job as chief prosecutor for Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties, despite the fact that Inglis ran for United States Senate in 1998 while he kept his day job in Congress, despite the fact that he hasn’t called on Congressman Gresham Barrett to resign, or Attorney General Henry McMaster, or Lt. Governor Andre Bauer, or any other elected official seeking office. Nope. Just Trey Gowdy. The “old” Inglis ran against career politicians. The “new” Inglis is a career politician.

In November 2009, Inglis mailed a “candidate analysis” in which gave his opinion on his strengths and weaknesses. As you might imagine from someone who has been in Washington or trying to get to there for the past 18 years, Bob had lots of strengths and everyone else has lots of weaknesses.

Next, Inglis filed a bogus ethics complaint, leaked it to the media, and broke the law in the process. The “old” Inglis complained about dirty campaign tactics. The “new” Inglis engages in them.

Then he called a career federal and state prosecutor who has been recognized and honored by law enforcement officers and crime victims a “trial lawyer.”

As the June 8th primary draws nearer you can expect more attacks from Bob Inglis. If you want to see what Washington can do to a person, take a good, long look at Bob Inglis. He is willing to do and say anything to stay in Washington.
